Independence Day Speech in English

Dear friends, Good morning,
Let me start by welcoming all of you all, today we are gathered here to celebrate our India’s 72nd independence day.

(Add your own chief guest welcome speech or event opening note etc here or check these)

It’s been more than seven decades to our independence and still, we are failing to keep up with the world. Forget the global competition, millions of us, Indians sleep half stomach empty. Still, we are facing crime, rapes, corruption, poverty and what not. Is this is India our freedom fighters martyred for? Is this the India they dreamt? Is this the nation our armed forces ready to die for?

Of course not, right? Then whom should we blame? Politicians, policies, system? Yes, they are responsible for all this mess, but are they the only people we should blame? Aren’t we failed to fulfill our responsibilities? Blaming is the easiest thing in this world. It doesn’t take any efforts to point a finger at others or to wash off our own responsibilities.

We fight for our constitutional rights, and we should. We should not allow any political party, policies to harm them. But how many of us even know that we have constitutional duties too. As an Indian citizen, we have some moral responsibilities too. Technically, we are not obliged to follow them, that doesn’t mean we should not.

Aren’t we supposed to keep our country clean? Do you expect a government employee to come to your kitchen and sort out the dry and wet garbage? Yes, the government have responsibilities to build sustainable infrastructure. Just take an example, government builds roads and bridges, they put traffic signals to regulate traffic. They ask you to wear helmet and buckle seat belt for your safety. How many of us follow these rules? We keep complaining about traffic congestion, relentless honking but we never think that we are also part of the problem. If we don’t change individually how on the earth a country will change. I remember Gandhiji’s quotes on this situation, this is the only solution to our problems.

First, I extend my warm greeting for 72nd Independence Day to everyone. As we celebrate with Joy & fervor.  Independence Day is the great day for every Indian, because of this day India got freedom from the British Rules after years of Slavery. We also need to pay tribute to those who fought keenly to achieve the freedom and those who shaped its destiny with vision and wisdom. As well all know that Independence Day is an auspicious occasion for all of us.

72nd Independence Day Speech in English

The two independence day speeches in bit formal and big, which can be used by a school or college teacher, professor or principal etc. In this speech, we have talked about independence struggle, freedom fighters, their sacrifices, current environment and opinion of youth about freedom etc, but as a teacher or principal, you might need to add some things specific to your school or college. for example, chief guest, references to your school history or activities etc.

Today we are celebrating 72nd Independence Day. Every year on 15th of August as a national Holiday to commemorate the independence of India from the kingdom of British on 15thAugust in 1947. This day, after the hosting National Flag, we salute and remember the heroic deeds of all freedom fighters. Today we remember the great leader who gave their lives for the Nation’s freedom and prosperity. ये भी पढ़े 15 अगस्त 2018 स्वतंत्रता दिवस के लिए हिंदी में भाषण |

The third speech on Independence day is written for school or college students, it is little simple compared to first two. If you are school or college students then jump to second speech section. Independence day speech which we have written for students is of 315 words. You might have words limitation for speech, you can extract the required length of speech say, 100, 150, 250, 300 from it. For lengthier speech of 400 to 500 words, you can use the content from first two speeches. For younger kids of class 1,2,3,4 etc, we have written a separate 10 Lines Short Essay on Independence Day.

Speech on Independence Day for School (665 Words)

Dr. B.R Ambedkar gave the longest written constitution to us. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru worked for an Industrializes India. Mahatma Gandhi ji taught us Ahinsa and No-violence. Subhash Chandra Bose inducted courage in us. Swami Vivekanand gave us spiritual power. But it’s not good to remember the heroic deeds of only a few main leaders of freedom fight because the freedom fighting was a collective effort.

Though this speech is written for teachers and principals, we tried to add interactivity and emotions to it (which is, unfortunately, lacking in such speeches). As a teacher or principal, you have the power to influence students, you have the desire to guide them the right path. Instead of a typical dry speech; motivate, inspire them with an emotional independence day speech. I hope you will like it? If so, let us know in comments.

Speech on Independence Day for School Students (317 words)

This sample speech on independence is comparatively simple, but I will personally suggest students take some ideas from above two scripts too.

Good Morning all,

Today is 15th August, it is one of the most important days for Indian people. We are celebrating our 72nd independence day today. On 15th August 1947, we got freedom from British rule. They ruled over India for more than 200 years, during which they divided us and rules upon us.

From Mangal Pandey, Lokmanya Tilak, Bhagat Singh, Mahatma Gandhi to Netaji Bose and thousand of freedom fighter sacrificed there lives for the freedom of India. Most of them were not live when we got the independence.

It’s more than 70 years now, we are a free country, we have own government and freedom to do anything under the sun. But still, we are struggling with poverty, corruption, terrorism, child trafficking, rapes, riots, caste discrimination, gender inequality and what not.

70 years back we had an excuse that foreign powers rule us so we can’t do anything, later we blamed government and politics for slow growth and we keep blaming them today also.

But we never look inward. We forgot that we also have a role to play. We as students should garner as much as knowledge as possible and make a great career. If we all do what we supposed to do even that will help the nation. If we decided not to involve in malpractices and corruption a lot of big problems in India will disappear.

We, children, have a great power in hand. forget the older generation, let’s not crib about them, let us hop on driver’s seat and start this journey.

We all can do it, only we can do it. If our generation ignores this opportunity now, we will never be able to recover this loss. So, friends come out of the self-centered cocoon and think of all, do for all…

Say with me,.,.. Bharat Mata ki Jay, Bharat Mata ki Jay, Bharat Mata ki Jay, … Jai Hind.
